WHAT IS ORANGE OIL?
Orange oil is an all-natural product made from cold-pressing orange peels. This means it doesn’t contain unnatural chemicals like mineral oils which are made from petroleum.
Orange essential oil is extracted from the rind of the sweet orange (Citrus Sinensis) by using cold pressing.
BENEFITS of orange oil as a chopping board oil
- It can be effective at preventing the growth of some types of bacteria and fungi
- It is a natural product, which means it doesn’t contain harmful chemicals
- Helps to polish wood finishes and brings back their original lustre
- Forms a protective layer on top of the wood
- Helps to prevent dust build-up
- Provides a natural, fresh, clean aroma
- It helps to cut through grease and grime build-up

ORANGE OIL
An all-purpose timber and cane furniture maintenance oil. Orange Oil is 100% plant based and food safe, contains no silicon and smells wonderful. It is one of our most popular products, and a great choice for maintaining furniture in a safe, natural way.
An excellent alternative to waxing, if a high sheen is not required. Gilly’s Orange Oil has great cleaning properties and is exceptional for old neglected furniture as it both cleans and restores. It is also a simple way of keeping cane and bamboo furniture in good condition and for feeding unpolished surfaces, such as drawers and undersides of tables. It darkens the timber as if it were wet – the natural orange colour does not stain.
Use For
Timber furniture, cane & bamboo, antiques, kitchen utensils, chopping boards, children’s toys, underside of draws/tables.
Please note, this product is not the same as pure orange oil. Whilst we do use pure cold-pressed orange oil in the formula, it is a blend.
Easy instructions for re-oiling your chopping boards. You can read about cheaper oils many people use on this page, such as olive oil or mineral oil – which is a petroleum product. (although they don’t work as well as these citrus based oils I use myself).
